Matters Arising
There have been 5 responses only to the appeal for £500 loans. Barry Swan has arranged a short term loan with Barclays Bank to pay accounts due at the end of August. There will be a setting up fee of £125 and 8% interest on any monies drawn. Fiona Ellis indicated that the Charity Bank charges 6% interest. It was suggested that a target indicator be erected outside the hall on Show Day (20 th August) and that an appeal be made prior to the raffle draw.
David Folkard will attend to the paperwork needed for the new liquor license.
The Chairman and Treasurer felt that they should be able to negotiate special terms for the hire of the hall for groups such as the Toddlers Club and Brownies.
A provisional date of 9 th September, 7pm-8.30pm was agreed, subject to confirmation from Dame Margaret Barbour. Ian Johnson has agreed to design and print the invitations for the official guests. Northumberland Cheese Farm will donate cheeses for the refreshments. With regard to the commemorative plaque, Stewart Murray has been approached Multitec of Morpeth and they will submit a design for our approval. Unfortunately, because of cost, it will not be possible tomatch the appearance of The Roll of Honour. It was suggested that the the new plaque should commemorate the opening ceremony and include the list of donors. Multitec will supply curtains etc for the opening ceremony.
There was no Treasurers report this month.
The staffing for all areas was finalised. The hall will be prepared on Thursday 18 th August. Nikky Blackett will arrange to have the cattle removed from her field. Sue Richardson will invite The Morpeth Herald to attend.
The work on the hall cottage is almost finished. Shiela Lough and Sue Richardson are to update the job description for a new caretaker. Several legal issues need to be addressed by Alison Jackson.
There will be a short-term problem regarding the cleaning of the hall. A cleaning rota might be organised.
Storage space in the hall is limited. It was suggested a shed be erected for infrequently used items.
The floor in the main hall needs to be resealed. A quote of £1400 plus VAT has been received. After discussion it was agreed that this be done.
