Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on 13 June 2006 at 7.30pm

The Chairman welcomed members to the AGM and gave a special welcome to village residents, Charlotte Capps, Gladys Smith, Rosie Harvey, Edna Parker, June and Dorothy Moffitt

Minutes of the Annual General Meeting on 20 July 2005 read and agreed as a correct record.

Chairman's Report

  The Chairman commended the newly refurbished Village Hall

• Special thanks were given to Alison, Sheila and David for their assistance in the last year as officer of the Committee
• The first event in the new Hall was Sheila and Hugh's 60th birthday party which was a wonderful inaugural event. This was followed by the village show which was perhaps the best attended ever.
• All user groups are now back in the Hall and up and running. New groups are the Brownies, Gardening and Art clubs. A Badminton club may start shortly.
• Opening night was on 17 September 2005 and was a splendid occasion. The Chairman remarked it was perhaps the most rewarding event he has been privileged to attend. Many thanks were expressed to the Committee for their hard work in preparation for the event.
• The Bonfire was a great success as ever.
• In December the new Caretaker Linda Macintosh took up her position. And has settled in well.
• The Hall was booked for the first time on New Year's Eve
• 2006 began with 5 excellent fundraising events, namely Burns Night Supper, Elizabeth 's Concert, John Grundy, Rocking Zimmers and the Northumbrian Evening. All of these events were hugely successful and very many thanks were given to the organisers.
• A few jobs with the electrics and the floor remain outstanding but otherwise the refurbishment is complete and the Chairman wished the Hall well for the future and hoped it would be put to good use.

Thanks were given to Billy Grix for his tireless work throughout the year.

Treasurer's Report

David delivered his report and distributed copies of the accounts which were discussed and adopted.

It is expected all loans will be repaid within 3 months. The Hall is currently in a healthy financial position. Funds are set aside for the retention and monies due to the architect.

Thanks were given to David for his very hard work in this difficult period of the refurbishment.

Election of Officers

A letter of resignation from Geoffrey Holliday was read to the meeting. Heartfelt thanks were expressed to Geoffrey for his hard work over the years. His contribution to the Committee's work has been enormous. In particular he organised unusual events which were very successful. Secretary to write a letter of thanks.

David wishes to resign from his position as treasurer. Very many thanks expressed once again to David for his work over the years in this position.

There being no other business, the meeting closed at 8.15pm .
