Minutes
Minutes of meeting on 13 May 2008 read and agreed as a correct record.
Matters Arising
Hexham Morris men may have a few men available for 4 th July. Mrs TB has an accordionist available
Notice board is half way finished
Hall floor will be re-sealed 28 th July so Hall unavailable for 4 days
The Post Office is proceeding and is likely to be open on Thursday mornings
BT has placed a notice in the phone box of intending to close it. Representations can be made against this to the planning authority. Sue suggested the VH should send a letter asking it be retained as a facility for the village hall. To point out it is not subject to vandalism and is of use to elderly residents and Charlotte who do not have a mobile phone.
20 children in the area have expressed interest in joining Beavers. Adult volunteers are required and a taster evening is proposed.
Treasurer's Report
Elliot delivered his report. Copy attached to the Minutes.
The village show income will be recorded separately in a ledger so a separate account is unnecessary. £3K will be available to Martin for show expenses.
Bale Fire
Insurance will be arranged by Elliot. The fire will be of the same proportions as last year. The pub must be advised of the event as they may provide food again and be asked to have a hose available. The event clashes with an event at the Norton's. Richard Sill will source ice creams to sell.
Highlights
Sheila has asked for a date for Kathryn Tickell in November and failing that the puppet show in December
The Show
The show pack is available on the website
A5 flyers are available for distribution. All to distribute where possible, especially at local shows (e.g. to stall holders with suitable stalls)
Sheila has worked with Dev to produce the Schedule and is ready for printing. Martin will email it out to all.
Judges- agreed to ask:
Peter Law for veg and flowers and hay bale
Dick and Linda Thompson for dogs ( Charlotte to enquire)
Caroline Miller for children classes at the Hall (Alison to write)
Sonia Rennison for industrial classes
Simon Glancy for photography (Martin to enquire)
Mike Teesdale for cars (Martin to enquire)
Margaret Thompson for handicrafts
Cinzia for scarecrows (Alison to ask)
Stewart will ask if the Morpeth art group wish to exhibit
A meeting will be held on Saturday 5 July at 10am for all involved with Show organisation. Invitations will be dispatched to those who are required.
AGM
This will precede the next meeting at 7.30 pm.
The officers need to be decided.
A volunteer is required for Secretary and Chairman
Chess Club is dormant and needs possibly reviving
Brownies – agreed to ask Caroline – Brown Owl
Toddlers – a representative is required agreed to ask Julie about a suitable nominee
Susan will prepare a notice re the AGM for the notice board
Hall bookings
Emma is away on holiday. There is an issue with the cooker.
AOB
A brilliant concert is to be held in the Hall on Saturday night to raise funds for the Church. Tickets are available.
