Minutes
Minutes of meeting on 13 February 2008 read and agreed as a correct record.
Matters Arising
Elizabeth 's charms failed to persuade the Hexham Morris Men but she is trying to get a few of them to form a band for the dance. She might persuade Morris Men from Monkseaton to attend. The Committee declined the offer from Hexham and accepted the offer from Monkseaton.
A new notice board would cost £283.50 to include safety glass. Billy will ask the Parish Council if it would contribute as previously agreed.
Billy had replied to Nicola Robson. Copies of the letters are in the files.
Sheila had been to collect the contribution from the Beresford. It was £100 and not £200 which had apparently been agreed.
Website – Billy had reminded people who should update their information.
Treasurer's Report
Elliot delivered his report. Copy attached to the Minutes.
Billy explained that it had been necessary to buy a new carpet for the cottage.
Highlights
Sue has £150 worth of ticket bookings. She will feed the cast. All were encouraged to come and bring others. Youth club is doing catering afterwards. There is no interval.
Caretaker
We have appointed a caretaker! She is Emma Grey. Sheila and Sue will manage her. We hope she will come by April 1 st .
Cinzia and Fiona's Play
Billy will do the door. Elliot will purchase wine and soft drinks. Wine service - Richard Sill, Friday - Hugh Lough. Sheila will buy plastic glasses. Richard Sill will buy choc ices for sale. Sheila and a n other will do coffee.
The Show
Sheila and Martin need to know how much land they will have to work with. Mrs Blackett volunteered her field. Martin wanted a gymkhana but others were doubtful. We discussed making a stile to connect Mrs B's field with Stephen Trobe's field via the schoolyard. There are many jobs to be done. There will be a sub-committee meeting which can report back at the April meeting.
Hall bookings
Sheila pointed out that the hall has been very busy and while most people were very good, some of the renters have been very careless and have left the hall in a very bad state. We agreed that the booking form would state that the hall must be left as found or a cleaning fee would be levied. The committee will support Emma in enforcing this. Alison volunteered to redesign the form in her absence.
AOB
Main lock on the front door has been replaced. No bill was presented.
Sheila proposed having the hall floor re-treated annually. Rather than buying a machine which would not be frequently used we might have a professional cleaner. Sheila would enquire about prices.
There is debris outside the cottage which should be cleared before the new caretaker comes. The wall between the cottage and the post office will also be checked.
NTC are offering some plays but Billy proposed waiting until Joan and Sue are here.
There being no other business the meeting closed at 8.35 pm.
Next meeting April 2008.
