Minutes of meeting on 9 May 2006 read and agreed as a correct record.

New Members

The Chairman welcomed the new members to the Committee:

Charlotte Capps, Gladys Smith, Rosie Harvey and Edna Parker

Matters Arising

• Sheila said that the Hancock Museum are able to give us two small display stands
• Work to the Hall floor will start on 17 July 2006
• The work to the patio has been put back until September as the Young Apprentice Scheme is engaged in priority school work. Stephen Trobe and Richard Grix have in the meantime levelled the existing flags. Many thanks expressed to them for this difficult task.
• The bar door is lacking a rubber seal. This is to be rectified and hopefully will solve the leak.
• There has been no more word re the roof litigation.

Treasurer's Report

  David delivered his report.

Barclays match funding of £750 has been received. The remaining £750 is expected shortly.

David has obtained a second quote for the insurance from Norwich Union of £2080, which is £400 cheaper than Cornhill. Agreed David will see if Cornhill will match this premium and if NU would include cover for the Bale fire and the bonfire.

  Electrics

A quote has been received for £4691 (incl vat). Agreed to proceed. Some of the work has been done already. Martin and Sue will discuss our requirements re the stage lighting with the electrician. They will also discuss how we will accommodate Hall bookings whilst the work is ongoing.

  Village Show

  This will be on 19 August 2006 . Judges for the vegetables and industrial classes are still outstanding. David will ask Bill Campbell if he will judge the vegetables and Billy will make further enquiries re a judge for the industrial classes.

Gladys suggested including an embroidery/tapestry class.

Robin has reported he has the schedule in hand.

Fund Raising Events

• Bale Fire – the Church will run the ceilidh. Agreed Alison will do hot dogs, Richard Sill ice cream and Sheila will source some children's drinks.
• Cinzia and Fiona would be able to stage the play in early December or March/April 2007. Agreed to aim for December 2006, subject to actors' availability.

AOB

• Fiona asked if she and Cinzia might use the kitchen in the Hall whilst their own kitchen is replaced. All agreed.
• Martin said the website is out of date and requested up to date information from user groups
• Book sale – Sheila suggested we hold this in the autumn. Agreed date of 14 October 2006 .
• Linda has now completed her 6 month probationary period. Both Linda and the Committee are happy that any problems on either side have been resolved. Approved her contract is now permanent.
