Minutes of the Committee Meeting held on June 8th 2004

 

 

Present:  Billy Grix (Chairman), David Adams (Treasurer), Joan Goddard (Secretary), Vivian Thomson, Stewart Murray, Nicky Blackett, Gill Waterworth, Elizabeth Silvester, Martin Keegan, Rosie Harvey, Stephen Trobe, Alison Jackson, Richard Sill and Sue Richardson.

These were read and agreed as a correct record.

 

 

Matters arising.

 

Vivian pointed out that Sheila had arranged the transport to Graham’s funeral.

 

 

Treasurer’s Report.

 

David read out his report, a copy of which is on file.  A total of £8,700 has now been raised from the letter appeal.  A follow up letter will be sent shortly as there have been only 37 responses out of a possible 194.  £750 has been donated from a local charity but several others have refused, leaving DEFRA and the Lottery as the most likely sources of support.  A grant of £10,000 has been made by Castle Morpeth that has to be spent on up grading the toilets by September 2004.

 

 

Fashion Show.

 

This was an enjoyable and successful evening and raised £591.  It was agreed to minute our thanks to Jenny for all her hard work and to write to Lady Caroline for all her help.

 

 

Evening of Entertainment June 11th.

 

Plans for setting up the Hall on Friday afternoon and catering arrangements were discussed.  Stewart will buy stock for the bar, which will be manned by Stephen, Richard Grix and Alison.  Billy and David will be on the door.

 

 

Treasure Hunt June 30th.

 

Stewart is distributing posters for this event and Fiona is sorting out prizes.  Cinzia and Fiona will organise the departure and return of entrants.  Wine, tea and coffee and nibble will be available at the end of the event in the Hall, on a donation basis.  Helpers will be organised later.

 

 

Hillhead BBQ July 10th.

 

Rosie reported that all the arrangements are in place.  Billy requested some extra volunteers on the night.

 

 

 Manor House Open Gardens July 11th

 

The gardens will be open from 2-5pm and admission costs is £3.  Teas will be served and Rosie, Vivien, Elizabeth and Sue volunteered to help.  Sue will do some posters and Committee members are asked to publicise this event.  The Hall will be open for use of the toilets.

 

 

Village Show August 21st.

 

The schedules are now available and will be distributed in the Parish Magazine.  Susan Givens will be asked to judge the Industrial classes, Caroline Millar the school classes, Bill Campbell the Vegetable classes and Emma O’Neill the Hanging baskets and Scarecrows.

 

 

AGM

 

This will be held at 7.30pm on July 13th.  User groups of the Hall should check that their representative still wishes to continue.  The Old People’s Club is not currently represented.

 

 

NTC Snow Queen.

 

It was agreed that the provisional booking for this performance on January 29th 2005 should be cancelled in view of the uncertainty of rebuilding plans.

 

 

Bale Fire July 4th

 

Donations will be requested to cover the insurance costs and towards the new Hall.  Vivian will organise the sale of ice cream and Alison will sell hot dogs.  An emergency water supply will be organised.
